Marco learned Spanish growing up in Brownsville, Texas and living in Mexico. After serving in the US Air Force, he returned home to Texas and became a bilingual teacher in Alamo. There he earned his Master's Degree in Spanish. Marco and his family then lived in Saudi Arabia where he studied Arabic and taught English. Marco has also studied French, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian and Russian.
Marco has been working his entire career to help people communicate, and to make language learning more accessible and interesting. He is licensed by the Texas Judicial Branch Certification Commission and certified by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts as a Spanish court interpreter. He is also certified by the American Translators Association as a translator of written Spanish. Here are his self-study courses for translators and interpreters.
Marco has experience translating legal, healthcare, education, engineering, finance, real estate, and immigration-related documents. He also works in challenging, emerging segments of the profession like the transcription and translation of evidentiary recordings in foreign languages.
Marco has presented at dozens of conferences for judges, attorneys, court staff, interpreters, translators, teachers, and other professionals. He is a part-time instructor at the University of Texas's Legal Interpreter Certificate Program and Austin Community College's Translation and Interpretation Certificate Program.
